Well for a definition that will be a DNA or RNA fragment which is present as an entity which suspends between life and non-life. Basically a virus is neither living nor dead… So how can it affect humans and animals? The answer is quite simple… It is a cellular parasite, that is, it enters a cell, combines itself to the cell main operation centre (nucleus) and changes the basic function of the cell for its own multiplication…. for an analogy… its like a robber entering a bank, brainwashing the manager and taking all the money to rent other robbers…
So now that a cell is affected by a virus… the new encoded Nucleic acids released by that cell will be containing a foreign synthesized fragment of protein (the initial piece of virus RNA) resulting in a fast propagation of a defectively encoded and synthesized protein which results in a decrease of the normal functioning of the cells.
Well that’s about the basic way a virus invades an organism… Coming up next… how does a vaccine work?
Well to understand how a vaccine work, you should first understand what a vaccine is… a vaccine is a small amount of foreign antigens (part of the virus RNA which is harmful to human or animals) which has been attenuated or more simply inactivated…. It is then injected into a patient which did not have any previous encounter to that specific antigen…That is who has never been infected by the virus in question.
Once inside the body, the virus inactivated fragments injected will produce an antigen-antibody reaction (an antigen is a substance or particle that your body recognises as foreign and an antibody is your body’s defence mechanism something like your body’s soldiers)
This reaction will then provoke your immune system to react and produce antibodies which can effectively kill those antigens… This will explain the brief moment of illness or fever you may encounter after a vaccine…
Now once those antibodies produced and all inactive virus antigen neutralised by your body’s army your immune system will record this specific encounter just like an archive and at any given time your body encounters the same virus (which this time is not inactive) it will effectively eliminate them (producing the same kind of antibodies the vaccine induced earlier but this time in a much bigger proportion) with minimal damage to your health…
So, is vaccine the ultimate solution?
Not really because the problems with vaccines are that they are not always reliable because sometimes it happens that the inactivated virus segment reactivates after injection thus giving a quite severe and even fatal viral infection in the patient… Though such cases are very very rare… but still the efficiency of vaccine as compared to a non vaccinated population is almost 95% to 99% which is quite a considerable amount… As long as the virus does not mutate (let’s talk about mutation another time).
btw people… all of u are welcomed to share something about general knowledge… anything mystical enigmatic challenging memorable monumental will do…. or simply something u think people must be aware of…
flying saucer….
Everyone keeps wondering whether there is someone out there… some kind of highly evolved civilisation… or some highly sophisticated technologies…. in brief… are we alone in this huge universe???
Well many people in the past have claimed about seeing Unidentified Flying Objects (UFO) mainly in the form of saucers… for long people have been accepting and denying, debating and bashing upon the reliability of such declarations…. and till now no one can say for sure if those claims are founded or not….
For one thing… it’s scientifically proven that saucers at least saucer shaped objects can fly without big fuel as such… the only thing needed is a hyper powerful source of laser light… the saucer is made to react to the laser light by spinning on a horizontal plain while its centre of gravity is kept on a verticle one… and there it is leaving the earth gravitational field (saucer size was about 50 cm in diameter and it rose to like a meter or so… for a time period of about 15 secs)
But this shows that Saucer shaped objects could actually fly if proper energy sources are available or proper air drift is given (difference of pressure)… so flying saucers are not so much an invention of a rich imagination… could it really be that we were visited by aliens? or was it just one of those NASA secret tests that people have seen…
well mutation is in brief the change in the genetic code of the virus so that the general properties of the virus itself is changed and the antivirus cannot recognise its target any longer.

Well if we can’t rely on vaccine, what can we rely on then?
April 25, 2007 at 6:23 pm
unfortunately against viruses thats the best shot we have so far
April 25, 2007 at 6:40 pm
viruses… does that include you?

is there realy a ‘good’ virus, even a love virus can be harmful!
June 27, 2007 at 10:33 am
good or bad’s just a matter of perspective… for us viruses are bad coz they hurt us… for them we are bad coz we destroy them
June 27, 2007 at 7:08 pm
infect me
