Narcissism

“The narcissist inflicts pain and abuse on others. He devalues sources of supply, callously and off-handedly abandons them, and discards people, places, partnerships, and friendships unhesitatingly. Sudden shifts between sadism and altruism, abuse and ‘love’, ignoring and caring, abandoning and clinging, viciousness and remorse, the harsh and the tender - are, perhaps, the most difficult to comprehend and to accept. These swings produce in people around the narcissist emotional insecurity, an eroded sense of self worth, fear, stress, and anxiety (’walking on eggshells’). Gradually, emotional paralysis ensues and they come to occupy the same emotional wasteland inhabited by the narcissist, his prisoners and hostages in more ways than one - and even when he is long out of their life.”

Article: Other People’s Pain by Dr. Sam Varkin

Something I thought might interest you… It’s from a Narcissism Book of Quotes by Sam Varkin and you won’t believe how it pains to read those testimonials. Real people like that do exist on Earth and they have no idea what disasters they bring around themselves. The text quoted below might be an example for that….

“I stood there thinking: ‘He can’t mean it.’ I had the shudders, my skin was crawling. This Narcissist-from-hell exuded pure evil. Over the next 5 years he kicked his father out of the house, cut off his pension and slandered him. He cheated his first wife and his kids of money he should have paid, manipulated his business(s), lied to his separate little groups, split away from former friends and family, got ‘religion’, verbally abused his kids, turned other people into his little evil-doer proxies, hired and fired people on a regular basis. He’d cheat himself to satisfy his own greed if he could. About every three months I’d hear about some treachery he was inflicting on someone, somewhere.”

Maiden of Mist

She wanders from tombstone to tombstone
Shedding a tear or two at each stop
Sometimes tracing the engraved stone
Feeling the memories left behind by the departed souls

Dressed in black, veiled from head to toe
Eyes clouded in a Night-shade musslin
No Woe nor Pain they now display
A grey as morose as the deepest Depression

She hovers above the alleys of Sad bouquets
No love nor Adoration she feels for the blossoms
Lively colours of the buds a painful contrast to her mourning
A paradox bereft of any poetic magic or enchantment

A Ghost some think she incarnates
Foerever haunting this desolate cemetery
But an earthly-bound spirit she never was
Aye, Flesh and Blood she is made of

“A mourner, crying the souls of her beloved ones
Lost to her among the fires of the Atrocious Strife
Each day her world witnesses no light of Hope
Tears and Sorrow, the Fate of this Maiden of Mist.”

Did you know…

Did you know…

Why mint provides a cold sensation?

Well well… Have you ever wondered about that? I didn’t either, until today when I fell on an article in Science & Vie. I think that my subscription ends this month… but I haven’t received the January 2008 one either. Hmmm… Should talk to Mom about that :D

Anyway, I’ll try to make it as simple as possible :-)

According to the article, it’s because of menthol, an organic compound which the 7800 varieties of mint contain. (My my, there are 7800 varieties :| ) Consisting of 10 carbon atoms, 20 hydrogen one and 1 oxygen, this hydrocarbon of the same chemical family as camphor, makes the undisputed success of candy mint and refreshing balms, tooth pastes and other perfumes. Extracted from Japanese mint oil from the beginning of the 20th century, menthol is today obtained synthetically… because of the great demand… 10 000 tons per year…

Synthetic Joy ~ Sam Varkin

Synthetic joy of wedding halls,
caked bride and groom,
a spewing orchestra,
metallic rings.
Exchanging aqueous looks,
thickset in exudate,
the relatives.
Mother exuding age,
a father pillaged by defeat,
a clutch of wombless matrons.
The light is ashen,
the food partitioned.
Soon, scene of soiled tables.
Soon, the relieved goodbyes.
Soon, the breathless breeding and the crumpled sheets.
The neon lights extinguished by the dawn.

Unbelievable how I love his writings.. both Fiction and Poetry… I hope you’ll like it too :-)

Theme of the Week: Freedom

I close my eyes, waiting for that sound to disappeared… The cries of that bird, wanting to be freed from the hunter’s cage. I close my eyes, trying to block all my senses. Darkness in front of me, but then even when I open them, darkness is all I see. Ignoring his cries, I make my way into the forest. He told me to go and catch some more, which I am doing. I can see those tears of a loved one being gone, but I don’t want to feel that pain…

I close my eyes, wishing to relieve them of the pain. Here, now and then, I see those blank eyes staring at me. Behind those bars where light doesn’t reach, freedom is all they seek. They have the food, they have shelter but not every need is needed. The smell of that thin air is here; what is actually keeping them alive… but the scent of freedom is so far away…

But then… how are we different from the little birds in their cages. Bound by those chains of Fate we are. Day by day, we try to go a little further, but that is till where they let us. The music of chains makes itself heard as we, mere mortals think of freedom. The dream without cuffs in our hands seems so far… It is… for we are not what we think we are. We do not rule what we think we do. We do not even think what we think we are.

February 14

Quite an eventful day, I have to say :-) I would like to wish you all a Happy Valentine’s Day, though I’m not really sure why people give gifts ONLY on that day. And well… It’s quite a commercial, with all the flowers and teddies and cuties being sold. A piece of advice, find some original gift if you are to give one. Never give out artificial flowers. They suck big time. However you could go for real ones :-) Just like what I received :p Keep reading →

Signatures #2

Well since I still have that connection problem (Yes, I haven’t called them yet. I don’t want to get that stupid message :| ), I’ve found myself a new hobby XD

P.S: Sayuka here. Here I am, fed up of the rants going on. So, those pictures come from my personal collection, which I increased over the years. All credits go to the original artist, but unfortunately, I don’t have the links. Now, would the one flaming bbZush since a week or so move on with his life? This fight is becoming stupid and childish. Now, I hope you satisfied, and sorry for living in a country where the net conn is so slow that you can’t even load a page in less than 5 min! And, yeah, I shouldn’t forget, sorry for going to school and being too serious on studies!
