Before the Meeting

( I would love to see that on the front page of a paper :P :$ )

(Translation: A first in Mauritius, the Island’s bloggers meet at Mc Donald’s in Port-Louis, to get to know each other, and to make an update on the number of bloggers on the Mauritian web. Yashvin and Morina, the ones behind the “Mauritian Bloggers Meeeting” project, were both present, as were numerous fans of the Mauritian Blog-o-sphere. )

Since a few days now, Yashvin and Morina have been sending invites to all the Mauritian Blog Community and being bloggers, bbZuSh, Sayuka and myself were all interested to go to the meeting to finally meet all these virtual friends. I’m sure by now, we must all be online to blog the meeting.. but rather than being one of the many who are going to do so, I would like to count you our (bbZuSh, Sayuka and me) adventure before coming to meet our fellow friends today.

Ever since the invitation was sent, and time confirmed, bbZuSh and Sayuka had decided to meet directly in Port Louis at 11.30 today. And initially I would have met them at 14.00 as i was supposed to go to class. No need to say how happy I was when yesterday afternoon, my lecturer called me to inform me that he had something urgent to do and that there will be no class today! ‘Hooray!’ I can meet Sayuka and bbZuSh earlier!

We all met around 11.30 in the food court at Shoprite and started talking talking talking talking talking talking, laughing laughing laughing laughing laughing laughing. But after some 30 minutes, the hunger took over and we decided to go to the parking. Wrong way to go since we already were in a foodcourt, but Sayuka and bbZuSh totally refused to eat there (which weren’t in our plans of course) since they are regulars there. Well, of course, we could not leave quietly for that would not be our style. bbZuSh and Sayuka had a little… catfight… because bbZuSh was adamant that it was raining too much (a few droplets of harmless rain) and would not get to the car… Sayuka had to remove her umbrella (or rather, was forced to) and cover bbZuSh for the few metres they had to walk.

On the way, we were all talking about the coming meeting and what we would eat at Caudan. I, then decided to show bbZuSh a garden in Port Louis! (It would seem she had never seen one there) So, we  passed through Robert Edward Hart Garden (Les salines) and bbZuSh was constantly asking who Robert Edward Hart was! and here went the EVS lesson! He was a POET, bbZuSh! He stayed at Souillac and had a house made of LIMESTONE ! called La NEF which is today a museum!  I  then saw an Audi ! A magnificent white A4 :$ an shouted Audi… and someone ( I won’t mention her name.. the creator of this blog…  shhh… ) heard “ Nu fine Perdi “ (We are lost) LOL ! and the hysteria started all over again…  We definitely were not lost! And bbZuSh was actually saying that the garden looked like a lake ! LOL! It rained a lot the past few days.. and there was water everywhere! It was kinda a bit… flooded! LOL!

We then got down at Caudan.. and we all complained about the heat of Port Louis… ( as usual) and I was so happy to see the ships at the docks… but bbZuSh and Sayuka were not too interested in that.. it was something normal to them. “Ships are… ships…” they said. Off to the foodcourt where we took seat and started talking again (we never are tired of talking) and after that went to buy the famous Benny B Boulettes!!!  They are soooo delicious !bbZuSh and Sayuka took chili with it, but I’m not a too big fan of hot stuffs ! bbZuSh then bought Grapetiser for us and Melon Iced Tea for Sayuka. After our meal and during the talking, there was a woman eyeing, most probably wanting to take over our table… :( but unluckily for her, and luckily for us we had not ‘completed’ our drinks :P so she had to choose another place :P

We then went for a stroll at Caudan Phase 2 and were admiring the windows of the expensive boutiques and found many interesting things! I saw a magnificent lava lamp! but it was a bit expensive… Rs 4000… I do not have that kind of budget ! We continued our “shopping” and went to the first floor. There actually are some quite nice boutiques over there. I was quite amazed that our small caudan has gone high tech.

Time for the meeting… We walked towards the Harbour Front Building to Mc Donald. No need to say we were all very shy to go in and kept delaying the… task…! LOL! So Zush gave me her phone and asked me to call Yashvin. But then, after gathering our courage, and after telling her that a bowl was not actually a bowl… we all got in Mc Donalds where all the bloggers had taken a few tables and ……

  1. This was the Zush stupidity exclusive :P

You have to admit though, my rain predictions are true :P And a girl can forget who Robert Edward Hart was a freaking POET :p

The “We are lost” thing came out of nowhere… I heard “Di”… I put unknown place and “Di” together, I… panicked :P

Ships are ships, however big or… big they are. :P

A bowl is a bowl… This is my conclusion

The meeting was fun though :P

  2. I love this post! It’s because it gives us an insight of what happened before you guys actually came to the meeting. It’s really interesting and funny to know the pre-meeting “inside stories”. That’s a really original one. :P
I’m really tempted to write something similar about what happened before I finally got to the meeting. :D

  3. Mauritian Bloggers Meeting: Behind the Scenes :P

  4. @ Nus, Your predictions were stupid! You harassed and assaulted me for the freaking umbrella ’cause the little Missy was afraid her hair-do would fall apart! XD

Your memory is wayyyyy toooooo selective, nussie dear :P and once again it was proven your deductions are not really good :P

One point i agree, ships are ships, hon’ XD

A bowl may not be a bowl, depending on the individual’s perception and use of the utensil :P

All in all, was a fun day! Had lotsa good laugh with Sis and my sweetie! Was good to meet us three, after so long!

The Bloggers meeting was fun, though a first for me in such a situation as the one at the meeting! Lotsa of peeps i did not know! Got me worried for some time ( I’m a self-proclaimed misanthrope! xD) but soon loosened up and had fun!

  5. Well… I didn’t want my hair to turn springy :P And I paid for it this time xD

My deductions might not be good, but the predictions were :P I’m the future Geographer, you should listen to me =P

A bowl is a bowl… I insist on this fact, for a bowl cannot be anything other than a freaking bowl :P

    It was worth it ;)

  6. Nice post.

I like the way the story is told. Very creative. It ends just before the meeting… Brilliant!

  7. Stingy! You’re the future Geographer, sure, but not the future meteorologist, right?

I’m the ex-socio and Literature student, so a bowl is definitely not a freaking bowl! :P

    Yeah Definitely worth it!

    @ Jevin, thankies ^^

  8. @ Jevin
Thanks :) Credits go to Parwez, of course ^.^

    @ Sayuka
I’m gonna study climate as well xD It’s part of my module :P Fu Fu Fu… A bowl by any other name would be a bowl…

  9. Did you just use Shakespeare’s “A rose by any other name would smell as sweet” for your poetic comm on the bowl, by any chance? :P
Ohhh, yeah i forgot! Euhhh, well, all I can say, All hail the future lab rat! :P

And yeah, Parwez, really great job on the post :)

@ bbzush : a bowl is a bowl and a bowl is used to store food or to eat food, a decorative object is not a bowl ! LOL

@ Sayuka: thanks for thee encouragement ! and i did nt knw abt the ‘assault ‘ for the umbrella !!! LOL !

@ bbzush & Sayuka: A ship is a ship which we so not see everyday !! and it is such a marvelous piece of technology !! LOL i knw am trying to defend the impossible here ! david against 2 goliaths ! LOL ! love you both kan mem :)

And a big thanks for bbzush and sayuka as well for helping me to do the posting :) with their edits :P ! and hope to get some more posts in the near future, as rightly said, we do not blog enough !! this sick country must move on! and i believe that we (bloggers) can move things ! If just because of a facebook profile the government closes down the internet of the whole country, imagine what will happen if it gets 500 posts against its favour in the near future ! especially that the general elections are here by next year !

    Cheers :)
