Suspense…
Heart pounding hard against our chest, we sat down, hoping that we don’t die before our turn comes. Time has now come for the leader of our team to go and participate in the drawing of lots… to know who will be first and all. Knowing our luck, we were sure to get the last place, that is… having to listen to all the 4 teams before us… Man. that would be hell.
Surprise surprise… we are 2nd and the team before us is from our school as well ^.^ Nice… But hey… didn’t I just say we had some bad luck. The members of the jury decided to ask questions, something they weren’t used to do. Still… we are 2nd, maybe we could have some time to prepare ourselves…
Our turn at last. Legs trembling, we all climbed unto the stage. The hall wasn’t so big, at least, not as big as the one we used to practice in. It should went well, but hey, I’ve forgotten what I’m supposed to say. I’m thinking of the others’ speech and mixing everything up.
Calm down. A deep breath. I listened as my team members were talking and it’s my turn at last. I was thinking, what if I make a mistake, what if I do this or that
*sigh* I didn’t look at my prompt card at all, so it went out quite well
I think nobody realised I said cabon dioxide instead of carbon monoxide
Shhhh… you are not supposed to tell anyone
Well… question time at last. It was quite okay, if you don’t count the fact that we all wanted to kill the chairperson
We all went to our places without a single word. *sigh* It was over at last… We listened to the others and we still wanted to kill the members of the jury. I didn’t know there was a department for environment in the Ministry of Environment
Well… I only want to say… THE PRESENTATION IS OVER!!!

Presentations are difficult. I used to get so nervous. When I was at my first job after university, I knew the people I worked with pretty well, and I like to talk and they knew that about me. I had to do some presentations to these very people, but in a group of 8 or so, and I was so nervous, my voice was shaky, it was terrible. The guys said “We know how to shut Dawn up, just put her in front of a crowd”. After I had kids, I sold Tupperware and slowly got used to talking in front of people. Now I am a tour guide and do it for a job. It is easy because I don’t have to do recall, it is all there, but when I get in front of other groups to say things, just once in a while the jitters rear their ugly heads. Glad you survived.
