Theme of the Week: Se7en

It’s time for Theme of the Week again. Actually it’s the last day today and as always, I have no idea about what to write
I just woke up and well, I am in a really really really bad mood. I don’t quite remember what I did but I was certainly angry because somebody close my door (most probably my dad) and it was freaking hot. Well, I guess that’s what contributed to my anger or I guess it’s just anger at me waking up when I didn’t get to sleep much though I stayed in bed for some 3 hours.
Anger or rather Wrath, one of the Seven Deadly Sins. Anyway, I’m not here to write about the Seven Deadly Sins, as much as I’d want to. I would prefer something more peaceful.
I’d just want to share this with you first
“Power resides not in being able to strike another, but in being able to keep the self under control when anger arises.”
A really interesting one, don’t you think?
So… something more peaceful related to the number of seven. There is actually something that comes to mind, mostly due to the rain I’m hearing outside. The rainbow. That multicoloured arc of seven colours which sometimes simply represent as some magical object to us…
Red, the colour of blood, the symbol of guilt and sin. Or it is what just is to that colour? The stinking monk said:
“Don’t think that in the world, blood is the only thing that is crimson.”
Quite true, I have to say. Though this colour might sometimes bring out our darker sides, it might also show that passionate side of us. Yes. Red for passion. Red for desire. Red for love. (I’m suddenly thinking of a bull
)
Then comes orange. The perfect mixture between the passion of red and the happiness of yellow. Usually associated with the tropics. Well, one name suddenly comes to mind and it’s Mauritius. But I would certainly see our island as blue rather than orange. But what orange reminds me is the sunset. That orange colour in the sky, when has it appeared and when it disappears, you never know. Captivated by the beauty, you just stand there, not wanting to miss any of it, and that’s when the unfortunate veil of the Night covers everything.
Next, Yellow. I don’t know why but it’s my least favourite colour. I never liked it, as far as I can remember. It’s supposed to be an optimistic colour, the cheerful sunshine one, but hey, never never never liked it.
(Even the little smiley is yellow -.- )
Greeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeen. The colour of Mother Nature. Calm and refreshing, and totally not for me
I’m surrounded by so much green everyday that one doesn’t really want to see it. (My school uniform is green.)
And now, my favourite colour, the blue
The colour of the ocean and then, most important, the colour of the sky. I can spend my whole day sitting and watch that sky blue above. It’s like a really calming effect. I can forget every frustration I feel, stress just disappears and so does my anger. Totally opposite to that red energy ball.
Indigo. I’m really sorry, dear blog friends but I have nothing to say about that colour.
Violet. Does remind be of lavender, especially the scent. How lavender has that soothing effect on me, it’s pure bliss. I even use lavender shower gel
Well, that was just a quick overview of the colours but really, rainbows are not simple about colours, are they? When looking at one, you wouldn’t really look at each of the different colours but as it as a whole. How the colours blend with each other to perfection and offer you that really welcoming scene.
I remember that when I was little, my Dad used to tell me, if you mix all those colour, white will be what you get. And I always tried to obtain that peaceful white, but instead all I’d get is that black
I wonder how much watercolour I spent just trying to do that. *sigh* I was a stubborn kid and I am still one, maybe.
Now, all I hope is that lady luck is with me and I get to find

“Don’t think that in the world, blood is the only thing that is crimson.” So rightly said. I’ve been trying to keep my anger under control a lot lately. It’s really hard!
my favourite color is orange
it really cheers me up, though i don’t use it much for clothing and accessories. but part of my blog is orange! hihi!
well, i like the way you described each color. it’s really true that indigo does not bring anything to mind except perhaps the color of inks or the indigo plant.

Green = Queen
*hug*
Wow. Blue is a paradox for you. Having the blues is a no-no when it comes to this colour since it cheers you up.
Hey BBZush, do you recall your art classes? Did you ever try the colour wheel?

That was very good. The quote ““Power resides not in being able to strike another, but in being able to keep the self under control when anger arises.”” comes from the martial arts…or at least that is what I was told.

On that quote, I told one of our children once who was brought to anger and physical aggression through the words of a sibling, that when you do revert to physical aggression you are no longer in control, but the person speaking is controlling you. That lesson has been very monumental in our home.

I loved your color breakdown. I must say that I love red and black ( I also get that when I mix all the colors).
LOL…I don’t have much to say about indigo either

I loved that quote. I wonder if I could get my four-year-old to MEMORIZE it…???

Yeah, it probably is his beak…that and I started gravitating away from old school crochet and tried to take a few short cuts. I will probably just give him to the dog…
Anyway, are you even old enough to have seen Se7en in theaters? I think it came out right when I turned 17. One of the bestest movies ever, ever.
Anger is not a sin. It can be a sin. Even God got angry; however the Bible tells us to be ye angry and sin not. Now you not only have a lesson from a stinking monk but a holy rolling Pentecostal too.

I must say, I’m impressed by the way you’ve gone about giving a description of each colour and its meaning! Love the words you’ve chosen, and quite an interesting read!
Proud of ya

@ morinn
Quite a mess really.
and the colour of ink reminds me of the ink I used to spill when my dad was teaching me to write with a bamboo stick.
@ fadilnet
My colour wheel was far much beautiful. I was two concentric circles with a star in the middle.
@ Amina
All lies in our perspective
@ Rii
But I guess tastes are bent to be different
Well, the purple is alright
@ Sirdar
I hear that this concept is used in martial arts as well ’cause you have to be able to control your feelings or something like that.
@ Dawn
Quite a lesson
@ Sandy
Alas,I guess black is all we are to get
@ Marlee
It would quite be an achievement if you could to that XD
@ Atomik Kitten
I will try to look for it.
I haven’t seen the film
@ Sayuka
LOL. Thanks.
