Lessons from a stinking monk….
Well, I’m currently watching an anime called Saiyuki and there’s one quote that certainly attracted my attention.
“Embrace nothing:
If you meet the Buddha, kill the Buddha.
If you meet your father, kill your father.
Only live your life as it is,
Not bound to anything.”
One would surely be… uhh… offended by hearing this but there is a deeper meaning than just killing the Buddha. But still, that what Buddhism is all about, I guess. I never really got the time to study it really but I’ve heard that it’s quite different from our usual beliefs. It’s where Buddha never said to believe what he said, but rather, to find out for yourself. Everybody has got a unique way he/she sees something and only he/she would ever see it that way. He/she is not really blindly believing what God or any other being said, but rather, himself. Hence, he is killing the Buddha by doing so. Not only that, but also, freeing himself/herself from the dependency that they had on their parents. When we are young, we tend to imitate our parents but that is totally different when we grow up. Life opens up to ourselves and as we delve deeper, new meanings of life surface. We shouldn’t really live life by what others think but by what we think is right. Living life at the fullest would be having the complete freedom for everything. Good or bad, we are to make our own choice. Good or bad, we have to live as we want.
Speaking of freedom, there is a priest who asks who decided that the birds were free. They may have wings and fly to wherever they want, but if they have to branch to rest upon or no place to go back, they will themselves curse this freedom. The only free one is that one who goes on his journey knowing that there will be someone waiting for him when he comes back.
Quite some lessons we learn while watching those animes

hmmm. anime , artwork, these are artists creations who find a way to open our eyes..

I think it is important to grow up to think for themselves. When they are little parents teach them principles to live by and how to think. The one thing important to remember in all this, and I think it kind of says it in the last thoughts of your post, is despite thinking for oneself, and being free, we are not alone and our choices affect those around us, and that can in turn affect what we have to come back too.

I think people need to embrace something. Embracing a lifestyle or a belief is a choice. By taking a stand or a point of view you are embracing that thought. If you embrace nothing, you have no frame of reference of what is right and wrong. And as Dawn alluded, we are not alone in this world and our actions can affect others.

I haven’t seen anime in quite some time. I had no idea some of them were so deep and thought provoking. I need to go back to catching more of it.

Very interesting. Your posts show a very mature side to you which is very admirable. I like that you always want to look deeper and the fact that you share is wonderful… certainly for me it is.

Why are we inclined upon deciding how to live, than actually living it? -says the guy who is called budha by his friends.

@ Paw
I would absolutely agree with you
@ Sirdar & Dawn
True enough, though we are free, we have to think that we are not alone. Our decisions alone can harm people around us and at the same time, people can benefit from them. The right choice we have to make
@ morinn
I’m glad to have get your neurons working
@ Daffy
Thank you.
@ stinger
Now, that’s yet another quote to think about
