Reading… My Passion…
This is probably the reason I can stay up really at night, straining my already damaged eyes.
Well, I do think it’s worth it, though my Mom says I’ll probably be blind before the age of 30. Hell, what do I care?
I can learn Braille and continue reading. ^.^
I’ve been reading since… well, I don’t quite remember. It’s been like forever and this has really been a craze since them. Addicted, I am addicted… Kelly Clarkson’s song titled Addicted comes to mind
It’s like you’re a drug
It’s like you’re a demon I can’t face down
It’s like I’m stuck …
Whenever I would go out, I would but books and keep on reading them. I was still 7 or 8 but I already had a complete set of the Enid Blyton’s books; Famous Five series, Secret Seven (They were my least favourite), Secret, Enchanted Wood or the Six Cousins. I’ve read them all. Now I’ve only got a few of these, the reason being, some of them have been lost (due to me being too kind and lending them to others) and some given away for these to be cherished again by some child.

I do remember my first time borrowing books from the Municipal Library. My grandma brought me there to have me registered. I have such good memories of that time, funny ones too! The librarian asked me to spell my name and I did, so fast that he didn’t understand anything. I was proud to have such a long name, and to be able to spell it without making any mistakes. LOL. That was in March 1995, was 4, going to be 5 in April 1995.
While my cousin, who must have been 10 or 11 at that time was choosing books based on fairy tales, I chose two books; one on dinosaurs and I can’t quite remember the second one, something to do with science. I returned home, happy of my choice, though I couldn’t understand anything written in the books.
I had my dad, of course, sit down and read everything to me, with the explanations and all! Such a demanding lady
O yeah, I ended up reading the books my cousin chose as well. My grandma said she would take us there once a week, which was too long for me since I finished my books in 2 or 3 days. I have to admit that y reading speed is higher than a normal person’s.
I couldn’t didn’t want to wait a whole week to get other books, so ended up reading whatever I could get. I even read my Dad’s Old Testament and didn’t understand a single thing.
There was a time, my parents had to put a ban on reading. i was reading to much, and wasn’t concentrating on anything else. I wasn’t given any money to buy books. I was told I had to study. Do you think that stopped me? Nah, it didn’t. I would smuggle books home and read them when nobody was present.
As I’ve grown up, my reading tastes have change. I still like to read about dinosaurs or Science, but I mainly go for books with much deeper thoughts and topics. I’m currently reading The Interpretaion of Murder by Jed Rubenfeld.
Now, even with the money I get from my parents, I still can’t buy everything I want. Too expensive
And some of the books I are not even available here. When this does happen, I go for ebooks. You can check Undernet if you are looking for ebooks.
Server: eu.undernet.org or us.undernet.org
Port:6667
Channel: #ebooks
You just have to type @find followed my the book title or the author’s name, and just follow the instructions. You can check out Waterstones‘ site for new books and reviews. it’s a bookshop in the UK, but it has a wide collection of books, for every tastes. I won’t take you more than 5 minutes to do so. You can also check out BlogoSquare’s post on Free books for you for more information on ebooks.
But.. though ebooks can satisfy this need for reading, nothing is better that you, cuddling in your bed, with a book in hand…
P.S. If you are going to Infotech 2007 and have already gone last year, it’s no use. For guys, this may interest you. The hosts are working on sex appeal to attract people to their stands. You’ll definitely love the girls.

Wow, that sure is some post I enjoyed reading…. Me too started taking books from library since I was four…. And since it was too far from home, my bro was assigned the task of taking the books for me! Man, he had no taste! Babar, Babar and Babar was all I got! But my reading taste are somewhat different than yours… I’ve always preferred the Classics, be it Austen, Shakespeare, or Dickens… ( Proud to have read Blake’s “songs of innocence and experience at 11 ^^ ) Reading, something I can’t live without!!!

And I have to admit it, I like it too
The title was chosen by Sayuka.
@Yash…
Which got me a 3. A 3 amongst 1s, think about it…
LOLLLL… Though I read a lot, that hasn’t improved my English. I’ve got a 3 for SC level. Vocabulary, sentence structure, blah blah, I know about these but never got used to… use them. My sentences are too simplistic, even the words I use

You have a ‘captivating mind’ - as your great posts are equally so
Now, will you be like me - and wear ‘bifocals’ -
Any luck on the ‘pet’ scene
If not keep trying

Be ever so determined - as in your ‘writing’ - which is a delight to read and so refreshing too

Internet has replaced books in my life, lolz. Im glad that you havent stopped your reading habits. You’ve said it, there’s nothing like cuddling up in bed with a…good book!
